Heather Hayes writes regularly for the Deseret News as an arts writer and reviewer. She also writes frequently for Wasatch Woman magazine, and has worked as a feature writer, dining reviewer and “Near and Far” section writer for Charlotte Parent magazine. Her work has also been featured in North Carolina's Our State magazine and Atlanta Parent magazine.
A native of Salt Lake City, Hayes is glad to be back in her hometown with its pristine mountains and major-league arts scene. Trained extensively in classical music and ballet, she worked as playbill editor and writer-in-residence on the staff of Ballet West for a number of years. Hayes is a guitar instructor, has sung lead in several folk/rock bands and is a member of the Salt Lake Choral Artists. She has four children, loves skiing, cooking and cheering for the University of Utah, where she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in communications and a B.S. in political science.  |
